005 Three Lessons I’ve Learned from a Life of Dieting

Have you spent more years than you care to remember on the diet rollercoaster? Do you tend to use exercise as a means of being smaller? Are you still not where you want to be in spite of years of trying?

There are plenty of times in my life when I've answered yes to all these questions. It feels like so many of us are on a never ending mission to be smaller, to find the diet and exercise regime that finally brings us the confidence we desire. We pin all of our hopes on weight loss and toning up as the answer to our problems.

Getting out of this cycle takes bravery, but could it be the key to getting closer to happiness and confidence? Today, I want to share with you what I've learned from a life of dieting.

What We Cover:

- Why I ended up on the diet rollercoaster after years of a physically active lifestyle - How I found my love for lifting weights - The diet culture, media, and how the thigh gap ideal impacted the perception of my body - What was happening in the ten years of being constantly hungry - How I finally decided to throw scales in the bin - Learning to trust our body, and to let go of the “dream body” ideal

After many years, I’ve found a place where my body can exist happily without the dieting, deprivation, and punishment. The diets and the scales no longer have the hold over me. I am not as small as I always wanted to be, nor as thin as I always wanted to be. But I’ve made a brave decision to start listening to my body and stop feeling guilt around food, and that feels flipping amazing. That’s why I wanted to share my story with you.
